About Our Home
Newland House is owned by Roger & Elizabeth Wood, both of whom have extensive hospital and social care experience. Their aim is to provide Residents with an environment of security and comfort, which they would wish for themselves.
The Original Building
Previously the home of the prominent Early family, the main building at Newland dates back to around 1780. The Early family were behind much of the famous 'Witney blanket' industry, and three generations of the family resided in the house between 1830 and the 1960's.
In the 1970s, the building was purchased for use as a residential home for the elderly, changing hands in 1987, eventually with 19 Residents' rooms and associated communal facilities. Towards the end of this ownership planning permission was acquired to add a sizeable extension to the original building.
Roger and Elizabeth purchased Newland House and the planning permission in early 2005, and have since provided significant investment to ensure the home offers top-class facilities.
The New Extension
The 'Windrush Wing' was opened by David Cameron in March 2006, having been built to the latest standards of energy conservation, safety and comfort. The building incorporates fire-detection and -suppression systems which other homes will strive to match, whilst the resident call system is of the most up to date available.
Furnishings and fabrics were selected both for their practicality and aesthetic qualities, to ensure all our Residents' rooms offer superb quality.
Caring for Our Residents
Newland House now offers a superb living environment, providing care for both sexes with a lower age limit of 65 and no upper limit. In conjunction with the care and attention of our excellent staff, we are pleased to offer a fitting home for our discerning Residents.
