Visitors
Family and Friends
We are delighted to welcome our Residents' relatives, friends and trained pets into Newland at any time without prior notice.
You are also very welcome to take beverages and meals with us, free of charge (though the kitchen would appreciate a little prior notice for lunch!).
Pastoral Care
Pastoral care is currently provided by the Church of England, Methodist and Roman Catholic Churches with Ministers visiting and providing regular Communion. Church volunteers also provide transport to those churches for normal services, and of course we would be happy to provide support for any other Faiths.
Healthcare Visitors
We have a visiting hairdresser who attends weekly, currently on a Friday afternoon. A chiropodist visits monthly and a local manicurist also attends regularly. GPs and other healthcare professionals will visit when required.
Entertainers
We offer frequent performances by visiting professional entertainers, which family and friends are very welcome to attend as this enhances the Residents' enjoyment of such events. See our current activities programme for details of upcoming events; this is also prominently displayed in the home.
Settling In
Adapting to life in a residential home can be a difficult time for new Residents and their families. There may be periods of melancholy when thinking of past experiences and friends, but hopefully there will also be periods of pleasure in meeting other Residents, our carers and joining optional activities.
Friends and relatives play a very important part in supporting our new Residents, and visits, letters and telephone calls are particularly encouraged during this time.
Our MP David Cameron signs the visitors' book
"Thank you for making us feel so welcome - we enjoy visiting you all as much as we do Mum!"
Ursula & Peter

"Thank you for being so welcoming when we come to see my Aunt."
